The role of the woman is something that I really appreciated because it is always important to show that women tried to give their opinions and to work (I mean not just at home.) Here, we have a woman who accepts to model for a man but on the condition to learn to paint like him.

In general, I really liked this book but I found some passages boring but I think I was awaiting Iris to fall in love early in the story. Silas (the other man) is during all the story attracted by Iris and will try to catch her… He accepts and with all this, their romance and aspiration for art will increase. She will model for the artist, Louis Frost, on the condition that he will teach her to paint. Iris, the protagonist, will meet 2 men, an artist and a collector. Then go check out for The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal, a romance and a thrilling story that is putting the woman “in front of the scene”. You want to know how and what happened to her?
